The U14 boys suffered their first loss in SYFL against the league's toughest opponents with a tight 0-1 score. After the opponents scored their goal in the first half, Juve found many attacking chances but could not equalize. The team suffered from the lack of substitutes as well as the absence of many talented, impactful players: Joshua, Roshan, Matthew, Lell, and Jorge. The high-intensity match also led to injuries for key players such as Quintin and Alvaro, who had to push through the majority of the match in less-than-ideal conditions due to limited options. Alvaro later dropped deep into the Central Defender role and helped keep the score difference at a minimum. In all, the team put up a great performance and showcased their ability and willingness to fight.
Despite the loss, Juve U14 are still favorites for winning the league. In the first round of SYFL, the team pulled off an amazing 4-2 comeback against the same team, giving Juve an aggregate 4-3 head-to-head advantage. We continue to expect the most from the team and are looking forward to the next match on August 1st. Let's go boys, Forza Juve!
