Last Sunday on September 18th, the Juventus Elite Women Team played their debut match in the Nv Shanghai Women’s League against Hispanic team Macatrinas. The Bianconere fought hard and finished the match with a 5-2 win against their opponents.
The girls had been training all week in preparation for this important match. The pressure of the game resulted in the team conceding first, but Juve never stopped fighting and equalized. Yvonne tapped in Karen’s rebounded shot toward the goal and the score was 1-1. Soon after, Vicky’s volley brought the team to a lead and the first half ended 2-1 in favor of the Juve Women.
After a good pep talk during half time, the Bianconere returned to the pitch more determined and energized than ever. Though Macatrinas continued to attack and pressure, Juve’s defense remained solid to ensure that the opponents did not equalize. Alicia then won and scored a penalty kick for Juve, and the team led by two goals.
Juventus controlled the rest of the match and scored two more, another by Alicia and one by Linda who dribbled past the goalkeeper for an empty net. Olivia, Kelly, Mia, Cris, and Karen were all crucial in ensuring the team stayed steady in both play style and the defense. Jocelyn the goalkeeper also made a few great saves to keep the team motivated and strong. Though new players Angela and Ana played less on the field, they showed amazing team spirit and helped the Juve Women secure their first victory.
The opponent team Macatrinas appointed Karen as Woman of the Match for this game. Congratulations!
