On August 23, Juventus Academy Shanghai attended the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Future Star Cup. The Shanghai Future Star Cup will be held from September 29th to October 4th and is an elite-level cup tournament hosted by the Shanghai Sports Bureau and the Shanghai Football Association.
To help promote the growth of football in China, the cup tournament organizers are optimistic and have strong ambitions. In five years, the tournament aims to become Asia’s most competitive, appealing, and influential youth tournament. In five to ten years, players that have attended the Shanghai Future Star Cup will represent world-famous clubs all around the world. And finally, the ultimate goal is to turn this tournament into a world-class elite tournament in ten years.
Along with other official academies, Juventus Academy Shanghai was invited to participate in both the ceremony and the cup tournament. There will be eight participating teams in total, all composed of top talent, selected from youth teams such as Shenhua and SIPG. Two China All-Star teams will join the competition as well. As summarized by the Shanghai Sports Wechat Official Account, “the 8 participating teams basically represent the top competitive level of the current U15 age group in China, which can be described as a peak event for domestic youth football international exchanges.”
Juventus Academy Shanghai is honoured to be recognized for its professionalism and is looking forward to competing with other elite teams.
