WHAT MAKES THEM A LEGEND?
Gianluca Vialli is a special one. Over the 145 appearances he made for the Bianconeri in four years, Vialli was instrumental in bringing back five trophies- a UEFA Cup (Europa League), a Scudetto title, a Coppa Italia, an Italian Super Cup, and last but certainly not least, the Champions League in 1996.
Vialli was a prolific goal-scorer and a very consistent one at that. One of the best Italian strikers of his generation, Gianluca was capable to play in any forward position and scored 53 goals in black and white. He was known for his superior agility and athleticism, able to score beautiful volleys and bicycle kicks. Not only was he a significant player on the pitch through his skills, he was also a great leader. His strong mentality and charisma always helped the team.
Vialli's most unforgettable moment that solidifies his legendary status is surely Juventus' most recent Champions League win in the 1995/1996 season. As Juve's captain, Vialli led the team to beat a brilliant Ajax side on penalties in the finals and lifted the most prestigious of club titles. His impact as a Bianconero cannot be denied, and he will remain special in the fans' hearts till the end of time.
