JAS Players Undergo Fitness Test | UP Clinic

Recently, Juventus Academy Shanghai players in older age groups were able to have a unique opportunity. Professional doctors and physical therapists from UP Clinic visited both of the Academy’s training locations and carried out fitness tests for our players.

According to UP Clinic, the screening tests are designed to determine the participant’s musculoskeletal status and injury potential. Using up-to-date, research-based tests and analyses, the report aims to predict the player’s likelihood of future injury in comparison to other football athletes. Understanding one’s potential for injury can greatly help with injury prevention.

The test consisted of three parts and focused on the participant’s functional movement capabilities such as mobility, stability, and balance. The first Functional Movement Screen test scored the test-taker on seven movement patterns: deep squat, hurdle step, in-line lunge, shoulder mobility, active straight-leg raise, trunk stability push-up, and rotary stability. The second and third tests (lower and upper quarter Y Balance Tests) were more related to balance. They test the participant’s upper body and lower body’s dynamic balance and symmetry. A low score on the Y Balance Tests have been shown to reliably correlate with future probability of injury.

After undergoing all the tests, UP Clinic has generated a personal report for all participants. Thank you to UP Clinic for providing this interesting and educational experience, and we hope all participating players enjoyed the process!
