MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

The Bianconeri blasted off immediately, scoring just 10 minutes into the game. Cuadrado sends the corner into the box, and Ronaldo scores a classic header and brings Juve in front. Just three minutes later, Ronaldo attempts another goal but instead comes into contact with the goalkeeper with his studs. It was a dangerous challenge and he receives a yellow.

Another good chance from Juve, Chiesa runs up the left flank and passes to Morata. However, the latter is unable to convert the chance into a threat. In the 25th minute, Ronaldo is brought down inside the box and gives himself the chance to score a second. His penalty finds the back of the net, Juve are up 2-0.

CR7 is unstoppable! Ronaldo unbelievably makes it a hat-trick at just the 32nd minute, removing almost all doubt that the Bianconeri will leave with a win. Receiving a pass just inside the box from Chiesa, Ronaldo smashes it in. 3-0 at half-time!

Juve slow down in the second half and do not manage to widen the gap further. In the 57th minute, Szczesny makes a great save but ultimately fails to keep a clean sheet. Four minutes later, Cagliari score and make it 3-1.

The rest of the second half was uneventful from the Bianconeri, until the very end of stoppage time. Ronaldo gets a 1-on-1 chance to make it four, but blasts it wide. The scoreline remains until the end of the match.

AFTER-MATCH THOUGHTS

Pirlo:

“Our approach was spot on and it was important to get off on the right foot after being knocked out the other night. When we were 3-0 up, we lacked a bit of energy, from both a physical and mental standpoint, but the game was safe… Ronaldo was angry like the rest of the team, because our elimination brought sadness to the whole group. He reacted like a true champion with a hat-trick.”

Szczesny:

“It’s been a tough week, but we had to respond on the pitch after the Champions League exit and we won against a team in good form. We know that to win the Scudetto, we need to win all our remaining games. Now we have some time to recover our energy levels and we’ll compete until the end. ”

JUVENTINA'S THOUGHTS

Even with the Champions League heartbreak for Juve earlier in the week, it was important that the team continue to fight on. At this moment, the only large title that Juve can aim for is the tenth consecutive Scudetto, but even that looks to be more and more out of reach as Inter go on a winning streak. My personal opinion is that Juve must head for a rebuild, meaning Ronaldo must go, but at the moment he is obviously the key player for the team as he has proven with his one-man-show during this match. Without Ronaldo, it is possible that the team would not have won. Other players who put on a great performance today are Chiesa, Rabiot, Danilo, Bernardeschi, and De Ligt. Morata was a bit disappointing, missing some good chances that he should have finished and turned into a goal. If there is any positive that can come out of Juve’s early exit out of the CL is that our schedule will now return more to normal, with one match a week. At the same time, this means that the team must start to perform at a higher level in Serie A without the excuse of a tight schedule. Fino alla fine.
