With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Gianluca Vialli, who has been battling pancreatic cancer and passed away yesterday at the age of 58.
Gianluca was a special one. Over the 145 appearances he made for the Bianconeri in four years, Vialli was instrumental in bringing back five trophies- a UEFA Cup (Europa League), a Scudetto title, a Coppa Italia, an Italian Super Cup, and last but certainly not least, the Champions League in 1996.
An agile and prolific goal-scorer, Vialli was so much more than an amazing player. What truly made the difference was his stunning character, leadership, charisma, and grinta.
In 1996, Vialli captained Juventus to lift our most recent Champions League cup. In 2021, he joined Italy's celebrations and lifted the Euros trophy in excellent form... just as he did with us before.
Ciao Gianluca. Thank you for all the memories, they will live on with us forever. May you rest in peace.
