The Juventus Elite girls team unfortunately finished last Sunday’s match with a difficult 1-2 loss against SWIFC 2.
Following two tough matches back-to-back, winning this match was also not going to be easy but certainly achievable. However, the girls started with a nervous atmosphere and conceded two early goals due to some mistakes from Juventus. The coach made a few tactical changes, and the team’s performance and attitude started to improve. Though the team continued to push and pressure, the first half finished with Juve two goals behind.
The second half was a much better game, as the girls launched attack after attack and kept the opponents in their half. Many shots hit the crossbar, the post, or were saved by the opponent’s goalkeeper. Around five minutes before the end of the match, Niuniu scores a goal from Alicia’s assist, 1-2. Unfortunately, there was not enough time left for the girls to score more goals and the match finished as a loss.
The girls certainly deserved more for their great performance in the second half. However, the opponents defended well, capitalized on Juve’s mistakes in the first half, and were able to secure the lead. This is a difficult loss to accept, but will serve as a good motivation for the team in the weeks ahead. Keep working hard, prepare well for every match, and we will win the next one. Forza Juve!
