OVERVIEW

After a disastrous start of the season for Juventus in the league, the Bianconeri have finally snatched their first victory through a 3-0 win against Malmo in the UCL group stages. With three goals in the first half from Alex Sandro, Dybala, and Morata, Juve win convincingly and regain some confidence ahead of their clash against AC Milan.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

The Bianconeri started off a bit shaky, with Malmo finding good rhythm on the pitch. It would be Juve to score the opener, however, in the 23rd minute. Following a good passage of play, the ball ends up at Cuadrado’s feet on the right flank. The Colombian crosses the ball into the box, Bentancur gets a touch, and Alex Sandro heads it in via a low header! 1-0, Juve in the lead!

Juve begin to steadily regain control of the field and continue to pressure. With a few decent chances along the way, the Bianconeri are awarded a penalty in the 43rd minute after a Malmo defender holds on the Morata and pulls him to the ground inside the box. Dybala takes the penalty and scores, things are heading in the right direction.

Before Malmo or even the audience could reset, Morata makes it three. In the one-minute extra time, Malmo launches the ball toward the Juve half and Szczesny gets ahold of the ball. The Polish goalkeeper then sends it far, and after a few headers fighting for possession, Morata finds himself in the right place at the right time. Morata finishes clinically and makes it 3-0 for Juventus!

Despite the wide gap in the scoreline, Juve continued to pose an attacking threat in the second half. With quite a few good chances from players such as Moise Kean, Juventus are a bit unlucky to finish the second half goalless. Full time, 3-0 for Juve!

JUVENTINA'S THOUGHTS

Finally, a win for Juve. It has been more than disappointing to watch the first three matches in Serie A with mistakes on mistakes, but this match was different. Though Juve did not dominate the match from the beginning, the team found a way to remain steady and finished the game early. All of the players did well and there were some great team plays and build-ups throughout the match. While Malmo is not supposed to be a tough opponent, with recent performances, any win is crucial for the team’s morale. Hopefully today’s winning mentality will be present during this Sunday’s match against AC Milan as well. In the league, Juve have only managed one point out of three matches and will need to win in order to climb up the table. With the South Americans back and the team stabilizing, let’s hope for much better performances in the future. Fino alla Fine, Forza Juve!
